Innovations at Work
Collaboration is the heart of innovation.
Research
Rangeland stays on the leading edge of innovation by partnering with University of Calgary researchers to find and test solutions to some of our industry’s most complex challenges.
We recently collaborated with the university to better understand the asphaltene properties in gas and NGL liquid plus solvents. Testing these properties means we can design an effective flushing system to wash asphaltene from de-ethanizer and de-propanizer reboiler tubes. Rangeland has now set our sights on measuring the flammability of crude/diluent vapour to design a vapour recovery/incinerator system for unit train terminals.
3D Model Intelligence
Not all models are built the same. At Rangeland Engineering our drawing packages not only help our partners build in the shop or field, but they are a critical tool for materials management, total project cost control and project reporting, such as our ConStat360.
Our experts push the intelligence of our 3D model to the extreme. Whether it’s for MTOs, BOMs, COG (center of gravity), status, or breaking down the model into individual components, we support our client’s needs for quality and efficiency.
Material Management
Rangeland’s in-house material management system provides material control all the way from the supplier to marshalling yards, fabricators and the owner’s construction site. Tied to our advanced and detailed modular design, materials are traceable to each module, process skid or area. Our intelligent P&IDs enable us to report on the status of materials and their delivery details in real time. We ensure fabricators receive the materials they need when they need them.
Total Project Cost Control
As an industry leader in cost estimating, we provide total project cost updates to our clients and contractors from concept to completion, at key design stages—including 30, 60, 90 and 100 per cent project completion—as well as throughout construction.
Our experts deliver detailed highly accurate class 5 to 2 estimates using powerful software including AspenTech ACCE, Est$Pro, National Estimator and Rangeland’s in-house database of costs and costing procedures. We also complete preliminary material takeoff cost estimates using our intelligent AutoCAD Plant 3D models. With responsive data provided at the most vital stages, our clients and contractors have the right information they need to make informed decisions.
ConStat 360
We know from experience that when you have access to the most up-to-date information, you can make informed decisions and head off construction issues with confidence. Rangeland delivers 3D construction status and cost reports to keep our clients and contractors informed in real time. Using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and our in-house material management system, we produce detailed progress and cost reports on shop and field fabrication of yard piping, modules and fabrication skids. In addition to responsive, real-time reports, the system can be used as a daily, weekly, monthly planning tool, and combined with materials and labour data to estimate costs on future projects.
